The Pirates of Penzance -- The 1929 Electric D'Oyly Carte
Recording
(GS13)
Complete Opera by W. S. Gilbert and Arthur Sullivan recorded
under the direction of Rupert D'Oyly Carte.
This transfer of the second D'Oyly Carte recording of The
Pirates of Penzance is of excellent quality, largely due to the use of an
excellent set of 78 rpm records from the collection of Marc Lewis of New York
City. [Mr. Lewis is the owner of the Gryphon Record shop, 233 W. 72nd Street,
New York, NY 10023.] A
description of this recording may be found in Marc Shepherd's Gilbert and
Sullivan Discography. Note: For a link to the G&S Discography that is not
confined to a 78s 2 CD frame, please select "Links" in the contents frame.
